Higher magnification view of sample shown in photo #52, illustrating mylonitic anorthosite. Most of the plagioclase is dynamically recrystallized and only small remnants are left of former porphyroclasts. Porphyroclasts oriented for easy slip have been reduced in thickness to the diameter of a single recrystallized grain (15-80 µm) by slip and recrystallization. Porphyroclasts with small aspect ratios have a markedly different crystallographic orientation, unsuitable for (010)[001] slip.
